Calcium aluminium borosilicate, also known as glass dust, is an ingredient used in the manufacture of various products. It is a type of glass that is made up of very fine, microscopic particles. Since this material is reflective and can better scatter light, it is mainly used by cosmetics manufacturers, specifically for the production of eye shadows, lipsticks, nail polishes, powders and other types of make-up, where it enhances the shine and radiance of the product.
But its use doesn't just stop at cosmetics. Calcium aluminium borosilicate is also found in certain types of glass, ceramics and porcelain, where it helps to improve their product properties. In industry, it is also used in the production of insulants and gaskets. Due to its reflective properties, this material is also used in paints and varnishes where it increases gloss and UV resistance. It is also a component of certain types of films and packaging that increase light resistance and thus extend the shelf life of food.
