C10-18 Triglycerides
Harm score: 2 (Derivatives of natural substances)
C10-18 Triglycerides, also known as Frankicense Negleta or Black Incense, is an ingredient that is often used in the cosmetic industry. This substance is made up of a mixture of several different triglycerides that are extracted from vegetable oils. Mainly it is palm oil, coconut oil or olive oil. It is a colourless to slightly yellowish liquid with almost no smell.
Its use is quite wide. C10-18 Triglycerides is most commonly found as an ingredient in moisturizers, where it helps the skin retain moisture and prevents dryness. It can also be found in various make-up products, such as mascaras, where it helps to improve their consistency. This ingredient is also found in many hair products, such as conditioners and hair masks, where it helps to better moisturize the hair. Despite its name, Black Incense, this substance has nothing to do with incense sticks, as one might think. Rather, it is the technical name for a certain type of triglyceride used in the cosmetic industry.
