Bromus ramosus is an elegant perennial green plant of the lichen family, popular with gardeners for its pretty form and attractive appearance. Also known by other names such as fescue, Beneken's fescue, Beneken's fescue, stoklas, bromos, fescue or oats, this species is characterised by its dense growth of dark green leaves and branching spikelets that form a beautiful tree shape. It is one of the most common species in the Czech Republic and grows mainly in meadows, forests, along roadsides and in meadows.
In addition to its decorative purposes, it is also used in various products. For example, in traditional folk medicine it was used as a medicinal plant. Today it is mainly used as cattle feed. Its seeds also have some value as food for wild birds. It is also used as part of compositions in landscaping to maintain soil functions. Its decorative properties are also used in floristry - it is added to bouquets and wreaths for its natural appearance and durability.
