Blue chamomile, or Chamomilla recutita, is a plant that is very well known and popular in the Czech Republic. Among people it is also known by other names, such as chamomile, chamomile, Chamolila matricaria or Altai chamomile. This plant belongs to the star family and grows to a height of 20 to 50 centimetres. The characteristic features of blue chamomile are its small, white to blue flowers and its distinctive, bitter to sweet scent. This herb grows in meadows, fields, roadsides and waste places and flowers from May to September.
Blue chamomile has been used in folk medicine for centuries for its healing effects. Its main importance lies in treating stomach upsets, but it also helps with colds and as a remedy for stress and anxiety. This plant is also often used in the cosmetic industry. Its flowers are dried and then used to make various products such as oils, ointments, creams and shampoos. This herbal oil is also used in aromatherapy. It has many therapeutic properties and is known for its calming effect. It is also used to make tea, which is very popular for its characteristic taste and aroma. Chamomile tea also has many therapeutic benefits such as boosting the immune system, relieving anxiety and stress, aiding digestion and much more. Despite its many uses, however, chamomile should not be used in too large doses as it can cause allergic reactions.
