Ammonium sulfate, also known as ammonium sulfate, mascagnite, sulfuric acid or referred to as E517 in the food industry, is an inorganic salt composed of ammonium ions and sulfates. It takes the form of white, transparent crystals and, if it comes into contact with an open temperature, it can heat up to 235 °C without burning. Ammonium sulfate is a widely used chemical element that is used in many industries.
Ammonium sulphate is most commonly used as a fertiliser for alkaline soils. It is popular in agriculture because of its very high nitrogen content, which is important for proper plant growth. In addition, it is also used in the food industry as an acidity regulator and stabiliser. As far as the food industry is concerned, you can find this miraculous element in baking, where it acts as a source of yeast for fermentation. Ammonium sulfate also finds its application in the fire protection industry, where it is a component of fire extinguishers. It is also an integral part of the textile and leather industry, where it is used in leather processing, and in the pharmaceutical industry in medicines.
