Aluminium tristearate, also known as aluminate tristearate, is a chemical compound classified as a fatty acid salt or inorganic salt. Its systematic IUPAC name is aluminium; octadecanoate. This white powder is nonflammable, does not undergo polymerization, and is inconspicuous to the skin and eyes.
Aluminium tristearates are used in a wide range of industrial and commercial applications. As an antifoaming agent, it has a wide range of uses in paints, inks, sealants, plastic additives and many other products. It is also important as an ingredient in differentiating compounds that are used to create coatings that resist scratching and provide weathering protection. Aluminium tristearate is also a stabiliser for cosmetics and skin care products such as creams and lotions as it helps maintain their consistency and longevity. It is also used in the food industry as an additive - emulsifier E 470b.
